J.D. Rossetti has announced his intention to file to run for a Longview School Board seat now held by James Campbell.

Rossetti, 31, described himself in a news release as “an advocate for Longview public schools and our community” and says he is willing to listen to the opinions of “parents, teachers, friends and neighbors.”

“I believe we must work together to create positive educational opportunities where all students are challenged and given the support they need to achieve high academic success,” he said.

The Daily News was unable to reach him for comment Monday.

He serves on the board of Pathways 2020 and Cowlitz/Wahkiakum United Way and is chairman of the Cowlitz County Democratic Central Committee. He is married and has three school-age children.

From August 2011 to March 2012, Rossetti was a legislative assistant and federal relations network coordinator for the Washington State School Directors Association.
